Anonymous usage statistics only. Everything personal stays on your device.

This policy applies to the Quran Flip Android app (package name com.uziapps.quranflip), published by Uzi Apps and distributed through Google Play.

1. In Short

Quran Flip does not collect your personal information. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no third-party tracking. Your bookmarks, settings and reading statistics are stored only in the app's own private storage on your device, are excluded from cloud backups, and are removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.

From version 1.1 onwards, the app sends us a small anonymous summary after a reading session — how long it lasted and how many pages were read. It carries no name, no account and no device identifier, and there is nothing in it that could be traced back to you or joined up with any other session. Section 2 sets out exactly what is sent.

2. What We Collect, and What We Do Not

From version 1.1 onwards, when you finish reading and leave the app, Quran Flip prepares a short anonymous summary of that session. It is sent to our own server at uziapps.com the next time you open the app. It contains only:

  • How long you were actively reading, in seconds.
  • How many pages you read, and the first and last page numbers of that session.
  • The time the session started, and whether you were holding the phone upright or sideways.
  • Which version of the app you are using.
  • Roughly how long ago the app was first opened on that device, and roughly how many sessions it has had — both as broad ranges such as “4 to 7 days”, never exact figures.
  • A random reference number generated fresh for that one session and then discarded. It exists only so a summary that is sent twice is not counted twice. It is not a device identifier and it cannot link one session to another.

Our server records which country the request came from, then discards the connection details. We do not store your IP address.

We still do not collect any of the following: your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, or any other personal data. We do not collect device identifiers, advertising identifiers, your device model, or anything you have typed — including the names you give your bookmarks. There are no user accounts, no sign-in and no registration.

Because there is no identifier of any kind, we cannot tell how many people use the app, cannot recognise anyone returning, and cannot build a profile of any individual. We see totals and patterns, and nothing else.

3. What the App Stores on Your Device

So the app can remember where you were and how you like it set up, the following is saved in the app's private storage on your own device:

  • The page you last read, and your bookmarks — each holding a name you chose, a page number and the surah on that page.
  • Your display preferences — page size, page-turn style, display mode, and whether on-screen messages are shown.
  • Your reading statistics — total reading time, which pages you have read, number of sessions, your daily goal, reading streaks, activity by date, progress through each surah, time of day you read, seconds spent on individual pages, and any achievements earned.

The detail listed above stays on your device. Your bookmarks, the names you chose for them, your goals, streaks and achievements are never transmitted — only the short session summary described in section 2 is sent, and the app has no way of knowing who you are.

4. Device Motion

To count reading time accurately, the app needs to tell the difference between a page you are actually reading and a page left open on a table. It briefly samples the device's motion sensor at intervals to check whether the device is being held. This reading is used in the moment and immediately discarded. Motion data is never stored, never recorded and never transmitted. If your device has no motion sensor, the app simply relies on your taps and page turns instead.

5. Permissions the App Requests

  • Internet — required by Android for the app's own screens to load from files bundled inside the app, and used to send the anonymous session summary described in section 2. The Quran itself is stored inside the app, so Quran Flip works fully offline; if there is no connection, the summary simply waits, and is discarded if it cannot be sent.
  • Vibration — brief haptic feedback when you press and hold a page.
  • Storage (Android 9 and older only) — used solely when you choose to export your bookmarks to a file. Newer Android versions do not require this permission and the app does not request it there.

The app does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files.

6. Exporting, Importing and Sharing

These actions only ever happen when you start them:

  • Export writes your bookmarks to a file on your device, normally in your Downloads or Documents folder. That file is saved to your phone's own storage, is not affected by backup settings, and stays there even if you uninstall the app. It leaves your device only if you move or send it yourself.
  • Import reads a bookmarks file that you pick using Android's own file chooser. The app cannot see any other file.
  • Share passes text to Android's share menu. What happens next is handled by whichever app you choose, under that app's own privacy policy — not this one.

7. Backups and Moving to a New Phone

Quran Flip is configured so that its data is never included in cloud backups. Your bookmarks, settings and reading statistics are not uploaded to Google Drive or to any other online backup service, even if backup is switched on for your device.

On Android 12 and later, your data can still be copied directly from your old phone to your new one during device setup, using Android's device-to-device transfer. That copy passes between the two phones and does not go through any server. On Android 11 and earlier the operating system does not allow the two to be separated, so this app's data is excluded from both.

Because nothing is backed up online, please note that if you lose your phone or reset it without transferring to a new one, your bookmarks and reading statistics cannot be recovered. To keep your own copy, use Export on the bookmarks screen. It writes a small file to your Downloads or Documents folder that you can store or move wherever you like, and Import restores it on any device.

8. Advertising and Analytics

Quran Flip contains no advertising and no advertising identifiers. It uses no third-party analytics service, no measurement service and no third-party software development kits of any kind — nothing in the app reports to Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook or anyone else.

The anonymous session summary described in section 2 goes only to our own server, is never shared or sold, and is used solely to understand how the app is used so it can be improved. Because it carries no identifier, nothing in the app profiles you or tracks your behaviour over time.

9. Children's Privacy

Quran Flip is suitable for all ages and is used by children learning to read the Quran. The app collects no personal information from anyone, and so collects none from children either. The anonymous session summary described in section 2 carries no identifier and no personal data, so it is the same whoever is reading. There is no mechanism in the app by which a child — or anyone else — could provide personal information to us, and no part of the app asks for any.

10. Your Control Over Your Data

Everything the app saves is on your device and under your control:

  • Bookmarks can be deleted individually from the bookmarks screen.
  • Reading statistics can be cleared or reset from the statistics screen.
  • Clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, removes everything stored inside the app, including your bookmarks.
  • Any bookmark file you exported beforehand stays in your Downloads or Documents folder and is not affected.

Everything personal stays with you. The only thing we receive is the anonymous session summary in section 2, which carries no identifier — so once it has been sent there is no way for us, or for you, to pick out which rows came from your device. That also means there is nothing for us to hold about you, correct, or delete on request, and no request you need to make to us. If you would rather send nothing at all, you can use the app with the connection turned off, or in aeroplane mode; every feature works offline and unsent summaries are discarded.

11. Page Images

The Quran page images in this app are “Quran 13 Line” by Qamar Apps, © Qamar Apps, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/). The page scans have been converted to WebP format and are otherwise unaltered. One page from the same collection — the tajweed rules reference — has additionally been cropped, resized and given a plain border to match the app’s page dimensions. Modified images from this collection remain licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Quran Flip is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Qamar Apps. The images are included in the app itself and are not downloaded or streamed, so viewing them involves no connection to anyone.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date, and material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
